Joan Jett and the Blackhearts



Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are an american band formed by Joan Jett (born Joan Marie Larkin; September 22, 1958). After the end of her first band The Runaways, Jett formed the Blackhearts. She is best known for her hit cover "I Love Rock 'n' Roll", which in the first half of 1982 was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks in a row. It is Billboard’s #56 song of all time. She has 3 albums that have been certified Platinum or Gold, and she has been referred to as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll" many times during her career. Jett is listed as one of Blender's "hottest women of rock" 21 years after she started The Runaways". She was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in October 2006 and was named in the Rolling Stone greatest 100 guitarists of all time at number 87. Jett was one of only two women in this list, the other being Joni Mitchell at number 72.
